All About

Split Point Lighthouse in Aireys Inlet

Highlights

Split Point Lighthouse was the famous setting for the popular television series Round the Twist. The views from the Split Point Lighthouse in Aireys Inlet are simply breathtaking. You will spot the lighthouse as you travel the Great Ocean Road.

Why just drive by, when you can join a Split Point Lighthouse guided tour. Tours take 30 to 40 minutes and there are extra tours on holiday weekends and busy summer holiday times, so check out the website for the latest tour information.

Knowledgeable guides will introduce you to a life of maritime responsibility, engineering perfection, a pristine marine sanctuary, cultural connections and ever changing 360 degree coastal vistas. The Split Point Lighthouse was built in 1891. The lighthouse still shines her guiding light every evening to keep ships passing safely on their way to and from Port Phillip Bay, off the rocky shores.

A tour guide will greet you at the door and provide interesting information about the history of the lighthouse.

You can then make your way up the cast iron spiral staircase, to the top of the lighthouse in your own time. You will make your way through the lantern room and out onto the balcony to enjoy a birds eye view of the dramatic coastline.

Another tour guide will meet you at the top of the lighthouse to answer any questions you might have.
