Victoria
Victoria is Australia’s smallest mainland state but second largest in population. It’s capital city Melbourne is known for its trendy cafes, restaurants and roof-top bars. Melbourne has great shopping and is home to many wonderful events throughout the year including the Australian Open Tennis, the AFL rand Final and Formula One Grand Prix.
Along the southern coastline of the state you will find the world famous Twelve Apostles along the Great Ocean Road. Phillip Island is known for its beautiful green scenery and little penguins that come to shore each evening. The Grampians region has an abundance of hiking trails and waterfalls to explore. The Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges is home to world-class wineries, cheese factories and incredible, open scenery. A great place to escape the hustle and bustle of Melbourne without having to drive too far away. The Gippsland Region covers a large, diverse landscape comprising of Wilson’s Promontory, The Lakes coastal region all the way up to the alps in the Victorian High Country. Country Victoria includes the townships of Ballarat, Bendigo, Shepparton and Mildura, Echuca and Albury Wodonga on the Murray.
Victoria is known for having four seasons in one day, so be sure to check the weather in advance when packing for a getaway. It is generally hot and dry during the summer months, and cold and windy during winter.
