Highlights
Walking trail: 3km return | grade 3 | 2 hours
Booloumba Creek is a must-see natural bucket list attraction if you enjoy immersing yourself in nature, located in Conondale National Park on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland in Queensland. You do need a 4WD and to go through the first creek crossing to get to the part of the creek pictured on this page.
There is also the Booloumba Falls walk, which showcases the park's stunning surrounds and a wonderful variety of wildlife. The park, set in the rugged Conondale Range, features lush rainforests, tall eucalypt forest, waterfalls, boulder-strewn creeks and spectacular scenery. You'll be immersed in the natural beauty of this remarkable, sprawling expanse as you walk through tall open forest and discover Booloumba Creek's cascades, waterfalls and rock pools.
Marvel at The Breadknife, an impressive rock formation that marks the junction of Peters and Booloumba creeks, and cool off in the refreshing mountain water with a swim at the base of the falls. Allow two hours for this three kilometre return walk. The Booloumba Falls walk follows a well-defined track and requires average fitness levels. Follow the track to the junction of Peters and Booloumba creeks, where the Booloumba Gorge features a lookout over cascades, falls, rock pools and The Breadknife rock formation.
All park roads are gravel and at present suitable for high clearance four-wheel-drive vehicles only. Booloumba Creek Road includes several creek crossings.
This walk is managed by the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service. The map (see here) only shows an indicative start point; the track route and end point are not shown, and the map cannot be used for navigation purposes. See www.des.qld.gov.au for detailed maps and the latest park information. When you are in the park, read the signs at and near the start of the track.

Important Information
Guidelines
- Always do some research before heading out for your journey. Visit the parks website for up to date information on the current conditions. Ensure to check for any updates relating to any warnings that may be issued for the area, and check for the opening and closing times.
- Always enjoy waterfalls from trails and marked viewing points. Do not climb over barriers as cliff edges and slippery surfaces may cause injury or death.
- Only swim where permitted. Don’t jump from cliff edges into water bodies.
- Swimming near or under waterfalls can be dangerous due to strong currents, submerged hidden rock ledges and other dangers. The force of a waterfall can be incredibly strong and unfortunately, many people have drowned. Follow warning signs and take caution.
- Wear suitable footwear and ensure to bring a hat and sunscreen to protect yourself from the elements.
- Plan ahead and ensure to take enough food and water for your journey.
- Always stay on the marked tracks where possible. Never climb fences, they are there for your own safety.
- Please consider the environment, take your rubbish with you or place in the bins provided. We want to ensure these beautiful places are still here for our future generations to enjoy.
- Ensure to let a responsible adult know of your plans and report back into them once you have finished exploring for the day.
- Leave nothing but footprints. Take nothing but memories.
