All About

Boulder Creek Falls

Highlights

Walking trail: Moderate | 2km return hike | 45 mins return

DANGER: Sheer cliffs and waterfalls. One slip could be fatal—serious injury or death may result from walking near the edge. Keep to the track. Supervise children closely.

Boulder Creek Falls is a must do Aussie Bucket List walking trail when visiting Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory, Australia. If you are not up to the longer walks, Boulder Creek is a nice wet season walk where you may find banded fruit doves and spangled drongos. Plum Tree Creek near the start of this walk is just a sandy creek bed during the dry season. It is named after mindu, the billygoat plum. Birn-birndok (striated pardalotes) and wirrirtwirrirt (rainbow bee-eaters) nest in the banks of this creek.

After passing through open woodland, the track leads to Boulder Creek, which is lined with a monsoon forest. Follow the markers over the boulders across the creek and back to the carpark, or detour to the Yurmikmik lookout.

2 kms return | 45 minutes

Moderate walk on marked track.

A park pass is required to enter Kakadu. Save time on your holiday and purchase your park pass online before leaving home.
