Overview
Highlights
Bullocks walking track in Jindabyne, NSW is worth adding to your Aussie Bucket List if you enjoy bush walking and exploring Australia's great outdoors. Reconnect with nature on a short, easy walk along Bullocks track, which follows the Thredbo River between Thredbo Diggings campground and Bullocks Hut, in Kosciuszko National Park. Starting from Thredbo Diggings campground or Bullocks Flat Skitube carpark D. This short walk meanders alongside the Thredbo River for 2.5 kilometres. As you stroll along the Thredbo River, you'll be treated to views of the rocky Ramshead Range, which is often capped with snow.
If you bring your fishing gear there are plenty of spots to try your luck catching trout. The glassy waters of the river are so clear you're likely to spot fish swimming their way upstream.
Wallabies and kangaroos are also a common sight along the track and, during spring, wildflowers including yellow bossia and purple hovea are in bloom. Be sure to keep a look out for platypus in the pools around dawn and dusk.
Historic Bullocks Hut is a highlight of the walk. Located near Bullocks Flat, at the junction of the Thredbo River and Little Thredbo River, it was built in 1934 as a holiday cottage for Dr H. Bullock. Return the same way. From Bullocks Hut, you can also continue around one kilometre to Lake Crackenback.
