Important Information

Guidelines

  • Always do some research before heading out for your journey. Visit the trails website for up to date information on the current conditions.
  • Those taking longer treks should be aware that they are likely to be faced with sudden weather changes, water crossings, varying surface conditions and steep terrain. Drinking water may be difficult to find and access to phone reception will not always be available.
  • Some preparation and planning is needed and the guidebook should be studied and a decision made well in advance as to whether you wish to obtain a key to gates and toilets (see button to the right). Overnight stops should be predetermined. If commercial venues are to be used, they should be booked in advance. With careful planning a bike rider can spend each night in a bed.
  • The Trail frequently passes through or nearby towns and stores can be obtained along the way but the choice of goods will be limited in some areas.
  • Stay safe and get the most out of your trail experience by preparing for natural hazards and other outdoor risks. You are responsible for your own safety and the safety of those in your care.
  • Wear suitable footwear and ensure to wear appropriate clothing to protect yourself from the elements..
  • Plan ahead and ensure to take enough food and water for your journey. Stores may be replenished at pre-determined stops along your journey.
  • Always stay on the marked tracks where possible. Never climb fences, they are there for your own safety.
  • Please consider the environment, take your rubbish with you or place in the bins provided. We want to ensure these beautiful places are still here for our future generations to enjoy.
  • Ensure to let a responsible adult know of your plans and report back into them once you have finished exploring for the day.
  • Accommodation and camping fees apply, check the trails website for recommendations on places to book and for further details.
